You could consider better punctuation overall, particularly at the beginning of a sentence.

I have read quite a bit of your work and tried to tell anyone willing to listen about it. But the former - and current- mendacity and corruption of pharma is of no account to so many and they often refuse to engage in any discussion of the matter.
I have not taken a transfection shot but 90% of my peers have - and a significant number have died or been injured subsequently.
I wish you well in your mission and look forward to one day hearing of your success.
